Stéphane William Gondoin

All the versions of this article: [English] [français]

Historian Stéphane William Gondoin was editor-in-chief of the magazine
Patrimoine Normand for ten years.

He is the author of hundreds of articles devoted to history and heritage (Historia, Medieval History, Medieval History and Images, Norman Heritage, Actu.fr, etc.). He has also written numerous books, including 1066, William the King (André Maurois Prize 2003) and The Routard Guide to Medieval Normandy (2018).

As he himself says, "all theoretical research must be accompanied by a thorough knowledge of the field": camera(s) in hand, he roams roads and paths in all seasons and in all weather.

Radio and television also call upon his expertise. For four years, he was a history and heritage commentator for the France 3 Normandy morning show, Vous êtes formidables (You Are Wonderful), presented by Anne Boétie (2021-2025). He can now be seen regularly on BFM Normandie, still in his role as a history and heritage commentator, on the program *Le café de l’info*. He has also participated in numerous documentaries, including *Secrets d’histoire*, *Laissez-vous guider*, *La saga des Bluetooth*, and *Invitation au voyage*. He is also the author of *Histoires d’ici* (https://www.francebleu.fr/emissions/histoires-d-ici-normandie)), broadcast on Ici Normandie (formerly France Bleu) on weekends during school holidays.
