Sophie Salviati

Holding a doctorate in Italian Literature and Civilization from the University of Toulouse 2, Sophie Salviati is a senior lecturer and an *agrégée* teacher at the Lycée du Parc Impérial in Nice.

She is also an associate member of the Centre for the Modern and Contemporary Mediterranean at the Université Côte d’Azur.

Her research interests include:

– Literary syncretism and the fascination with the Orient among intellectuals of the Medici circle in the late 15th century (Luigi Pulci, Giovanni Pico della Mirandola, and Benedetto Dei).
– The evolution of the Italian presence in the Mediterranean during the 16th and 17th centuries: the Siege of Malta (1565) and the Battle of Lepanto (1571); Medici printing and the exchange of knowledge in the Eastern Mediterranean during the Counter-Reformation.
– Cultural exchanges in the Mediterranean: boundaries to be crossed?
– The Chronicle of Benedetto Dei (1473): money as a vehicle for connections between Christians and Muslims.
